Discover the love of learning where the exceptionality of each child is celebrated and nurtured
Welcome to Yeppoon and District Kindergarten
What makes Yeppoon and District Kindergarten such a reputable place within our community?
Our experienced and dedicated teaching staff offer a wealth of knowledge and expertise regarding early childhood education, as well as genuine care of, and warmth for, the children in their groups.
Both locations have established and shady gardens, creating a diverse range of play spaces including large lawns, dry creek beds, digging patches, forts, swings, sandpits and cubby houses. Inside, our kindy rooms are filled with stimulating spaces perfect for implementing a child-centred, play based program.
Children enrolled at our Kindy remain with the same group of children throughout the year, providing them with the opportunity to develop long-term friendships.
The same staff work with the children every day, giving them a sense of security and familiarity with the adults who are responding to their educational and emotional needs.
All funds raised go straight back into our kindy which constantly enhances its programs, resources and equipment for the children.
Our Kindergarten is the only stand-alone, community owned, not-for-profit kindergarten in Yeppoon. At our community kindergarten we follow the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline (QKLG) which adopts the vision of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) that ’all children experience learning that is engaging and builds success for life’. The QKLG provides specificity for children’s learning across the year before starting school, recognising that children bring with them diverse identities and backgrounds. It acknowledges that parents/carers are children’s first teachers and values the vital role families play in children’s lives and their ongoing learning.
Yeppoon and District Kindergarten is a Government Approved Kindergarten Provider approved under the Education and Care Services National Law and Education and Care Services National Regulation.
Yeppoon and District Kindergarten acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands on which our kindergarten services are placed, The Darumbal people. We pay our respects to the elders, past and present, who have raised children, taught them about the world around them and bestowed on them the gift of culture and language.
Mission Statement
Our mission is to foster in young children a love of learning in a safe, caring, and challenging environment, which encourages the children to make decisions, take responsibility for their own behaviour and to share responsibility for their own learning.
Our Environments
Our Queen Street campus is the original Yeppoon State Primary School, built in 1889. The kindergarten began its incorporated association, taking up residence in 1964.
In response to Yeppoon’s growing population, the association opened another unit at the original Yeppoon State School preschool site on Tucker Street.
